IMG_1932On June 24, 2013, the Monday of the Holy Spirit, His Holiness Patriarch Irenaeus of Serbia celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the church of the Holy Trinity of the Belgrade Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church. He was assisted by Archpriest Vitalij Tarasjev, dean of the Representation, Schema Hieromonk Moses from Xenophontos Monastery on Mount Athos and local clergy.

Among the numerous worshippers were Russian Ambassador A. Chepurin and Director of the Serbian Government’s office for Religion Ms. M. Radojevic.

With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the Athonite fellowship on the Balkans presented the church of the Holy Spirit with a copy of the miracle-working icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, ‘It is Meet and Right’ kept on Mount Athos. Before the liturgy, the Athonite monks brought the shrine to the church in a solemn ceremony.

After the service, the Patriarchal Protodeacon led the choir in singing ‘Many Years of Life’ to Patriarch Kirill.

The dean of the Representation addressed the Primate of the Serbian Church with words of greetings. As a token of the feast, Father Vitalij presented Patriarch Irenaeus with a holy panagia.

In his response, Patriarch Irenaeus noted with gratitude that the icon, which became a new shrine of the church of the Trinity, will be brought for veneration to the church of the Nativity of Our Lady in the Serbian city of Zemun and to the Monastery of the Meeting of the Lord in the Temple in Belgrade.

Since you are here…

…we do have a small request. More and more people visit Orthodoxy and the World website. However, resources for editorial are scarce. In comparison to some mass media, we do not make paid subscription. It is our deepest belief that preaching Christ for money is wrong.

Having said that, Pravmir provides daily articles from an autonomous news service, weekly wall newspaper for churches, lectorium, photos, videos, hosting and servers. Editors and translators work together towards one goal: to make our four websites possible - Pravmir.ru, Neinvalid.ru, Matrony.ru and Pravmir.com. Therefore our request for help is understandable.

For example, 5 euros a month is it a lot or little? A cup of coffee? It is not that much for a family budget, but it is a significant amount for Pravmir.

If everyone reading Pravmir could donate 5 euros a month, they would contribute greatly to our ability to spread the word of Christ, Orthodoxy, life's purpose, family and society.
