Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia visited the Holy Trinity- St. Sergius Lavra

In the Trinity Cathedral, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church venerated the relics of St. Sergius of Radonezh.

In the Dormition Cathedral, Patriarch Kirill led the evening vigil.

After the Polyeleos, Patriarch Kirill anointed the faithful with oil.

Addressing the faithful in the Cathedral, the Primate of the Russian Church said:

“I cordially congratulate you all, dear Vladykas, Fathers, brothers and sisters, with the feast day of our Trinity-Sergius Lavra. This is a special day for this holy monastery and for our entire country, for the whole of Rus’: by revealing the essence of Divine life in the United Trinity, the Abbot of our Land, the Venerable Sergius, taught people how to live together, to unite in the face of common challenges and problems, to defend their Fatherland, and together strengthen the nation’s spiritual life. This feast day is very uniquely experienced within the walls of Lavra, precisely because St. Sergius glorified the Holy Trinity like no other and lived according to the inner life of the Holy Trinity, the law of love, according to which he built his life, the life of the monastery’s brotherhood, and all people’s life according to this law.

“This year is special: it is the 700th anniversary of the birth of St. Sergius, and we constantly turn to him, as to our teacher, to God’s great saint of our land. And today, like tomorrow, like every day, we ask our Venerable and God-bearing Father Sergius to strengthen all of us in our faith, to give each of us an understanding of how to live according to the law of the Holy Trinity, to unite the whole of historical Rus’, our Fatherland, and to strengthen our Church so that it devotedly serves God and the people.”

Since you are here…

…we do have a small request. More and more people visit Orthodoxy and the World website. However, resources for editorial are scarce. In comparison to some mass media, we do not make paid subscription. It is our deepest belief that preaching Christ for money is wrong.

Having said that, Pravmir provides daily articles from an autonomous news service, weekly wall newspaper for churches, lectorium, photos, videos, hosting and servers. Editors and translators work together towards one goal: to make our four websites possible - Pravmir.ru, Neinvalid.ru, Matrony.ru and Pravmir.com. Therefore our request for help is understandable.

For example, 5 euros a month is it a lot or little? A cup of coffee? It is not that much for a family budget, but it is a significant amount for Pravmir.

If everyone reading Pravmir could donate 5 euros a month, they would contribute greatly to our ability to spread the word of Christ, Orthodoxy, life's purpose, family and society.
