The remains of King Petar II, his wife Queen Aleksandra, mother Queen Marija and brother Prince Andrej were laid to rest in Oplenac, central Serbia, on Sunday.

The remains of the four members of the Krađorđević royal family were buried in the royal family crypt of the Church of St. George with highest state honors.

The Serbian Army (VS) Guard carried the coffin of King Petar II into the crypt while the other three coffins were carried by members of the Kingdom of Serbia Association.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić, Prime Minister Ivica Dačić, cabinet ministers and members of the Krađorđević royal family, members of the diplomatic corps, Republic of Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik and numerous citizens attended the funeral.

Serbian Patriarch Irinej held the holy liturgy.

The remains of King Petar II were transferred to Serbia from the U.S. in January. The remains of his wife Queen Aleksandra were transferred to Serbia from Greece, his mother Queen Marija from Great Britain and his younger brother Prince Andrej from the U.S.

Since you are here…

…we do have a small request. More and more people visit Orthodoxy and the World website. However, resources for editorial are scarce. In comparison to some mass media, we do not make paid subscription. It is our deepest belief that preaching Christ for money is wrong.

Having said that, Pravmir provides daily articles from an autonomous news service, weekly wall newspaper for churches, lectorium, photos, videos, hosting and servers. Editors and translators work together towards one goal: to make our four websites possible - Pravmir.ru, Neinvalid.ru, Matrony.ru and Pravmir.com. Therefore our request for help is understandable.

For example, 5 euros a month is it a lot or little? A cup of coffee? It is not that much for a family budget, but it is a significant amount for Pravmir.

If everyone reading Pravmir could donate 5 euros a month, they would contribute greatly to our ability to spread the word of Christ, Orthodoxy, life's purpose, family and society.
