Nun Iuliania Sokolova became an icon painter in the most antireligious years of the Soviet Union’s history. In the 1928-1929 she was copying tha ancient icons and fresques of Vologda, Pskov, Novgorod.
She has recreated the Russian icon painting school – for many years she was teaching icon painting in the Moscow Spiritual Academy. She is the author of the icon “All saints of Russia”. The exhibition in the Moscow’s Andrei Rublyov Museum of Ancient Russian Art will continue till September, 30, 2010.
