Patriarch Irinej

Serbian Patriarch Irinej wished a happy Easter to all Christians and church leaders celebrating the greatest Christian holiday on Sunday, March 31.

Patriarch Irinej sent messages to Pope Francis, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, president of the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany Nicholas Schneider, and dignitaries of other Protestant churches.

The patriarch also sent his warmest greetings to the dignitaries and believers of churches and religious communities in Serbia – the Roman Catholic Church, the Slovak Evangelical Church, the Reformed Christian Church and the Methodist Church.

He also wished a happy Easter to ecumenical and confessional bodies and organizations, including the World Council of Churches, the Conference of European Churches and others.

The majority Orthodox believers adhere to the Julian calendar and will celebrate Easter on May 5.
