Russian Athonite representation monastery suspends its work in Kiev

Moscow, April 6, Interfax - St. Panteleimon Russian Monastery on Athos decided to suspend the work of its representation church in Kiev.

Hegumen of the convent Archimandrite Yevlogy (Ivanov) wrote a corresponding letter to Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine, press service of the Information and Education Department of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church reports.

The reasons for taking such a decision are unknown.

St. Panteleimon Monastery as well as the whole Mount Athos belongs to the jurisdiction of the Constantinople Patriarchate.

Representation of St. Panteleimon Monastery on Athos was revived in 2012. It had worked in Ukraine until 1923.

If everyone reading Pravmir could donate 5 euros a month, they would contribute greatly to our ability to spread the word of Christ, Orthodoxy, life's purpose, family and society.
