Western elites have already lost intellectual dispute, Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin believes

Moscow, April 29, Interfax – Head of the Synodal Department for Church and Society Relations Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin is convinced that western model of social development is loosened from its entrenchment and intellectual dispute of its elites with the rest of the world has already been lost.

“I am sure that western elites have lost intellectual dispute. Yes, they still have more weapons and more money than other parts of the world, but they can’t answer anything to the question about the limit of growth, on the question about foundations of unfair powerful and economic dominant, they’ve already lost intellectual dispute,” he said on air Ekho Moskvy radio station.

According to the priest, today the question is how modern world, modern society will develop further.

The church official is convinced that current vector of development, at least, the one dominating in informational and political environment, “has already proven its malignancy on the intellectual level, people will change this vector.”

Father Vsevolod believes that dictatorship of the rotten human mind in modern, dominating in the world, economical and political structures “will last very few years.”

“And I hope that at least we will be able to tell people quietly and calmly: you shouldn’t live for material welfare, for egoistic desires, for preserving health, only for this earthily life, but to live, even at the level of social organization, for God’s truth. I hope that people will understand it more and more,” the priest said.

Since you are here…

…we do have a small request. More and more people visit Orthodoxy and the World website. However, resources for editorial are scarce. In comparison to some mass media, we do not make paid subscription. It is our deepest belief that preaching Christ for money is wrong.

Having said that, Pravmir provides daily articles from an autonomous news service, weekly wall newspaper for churches, lectorium, photos, videos, hosting and servers. Editors and translators work together towards one goal: to make our four websites possible - Pravmir.ru, Neinvalid.ru, Matrony.ru and Pravmir.com. Therefore our request for help is understandable.

For example, 5 euros a month is it a lot or little? A cup of coffee? It is not that much for a family budget, but it is a significant amount for Pravmir.

If everyone reading Pravmir could donate 5 euros a month, they would contribute greatly to our ability to spread the word of Christ, Orthodoxy, life's purpose, family and society.
