If a person wants God to answer his or her prayer, they must honor God and fulfill His will said His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine in his sermon during the Divine Liturgy at the Dormition Cathedral of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra on June 6, 2021, reports the Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

“When we, sinners, pray to God, but do not honor Him, do not fulfill His will, do not put God in the first place, then God hears our prayer, but does not answer it. This prayer is fruitless. In order for one’s prayer to be strong, one must honor God and do the will of God,” said the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Fulfilling the will of God, the Archpastor continued, means living according to the Divine laws, even if the world dictates other rules.

“Sometimes the laws of the world are in conflict with the commandments of God. In this case, you must choose the Divine commandments. Because human truth, no matter how beautiful and promising it is, if it does not agree with the truth of God, it brings death and destruction to a person. And the truth of God, no matter how bitter, brings the sweetness of life to a person,” said His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry.

Therefore, the Archpastor concluded, one must always choose the truth of God. Then one’s prayer will be strong, and the grace of God will help this person walk the earthly path to eternal salvation.

Since you are here…

…we do have a small request. More and more people visit Orthodoxy and the World website. However, resources for editorial are scarce. In comparison to some mass media, we do not make paid subscription. It is our deepest belief that preaching Christ for money is wrong.

Having said that, Pravmir provides daily articles from an autonomous news service, weekly wall newspaper for churches, lectorium, photos, videos, hosting and servers. Editors and translators work together towards one goal: to make our four websites possible - Pravmir.ru, Neinvalid.ru, Matrony.ru and Pravmir.com. Therefore our request for help is understandable.

For example, 5 euros a month is it a lot or little? A cup of coffee? It is not that much for a family budget, but it is a significant amount for Pravmir.

If everyone reading Pravmir could donate 5 euros a month, they would contribute greatly to our ability to spread the word of Christ, Orthodoxy, life's purpose, family and society.
