“Today we have precise statistics showing that the Russian Church has almost 900 parishes outside of the CIS,” head of the administration for foreign institutions Bishop Antony of Belgorod said at a round table in frames of the Christmas Parliamentary Readings in the State Duma.
According to him, there has been a new wave of organizing Russian parishes abroad during the last 25 years and it is connected with the fact that compatriots are going abroad in search of better life.
The bishop especially noted that compatriots abroad united around parishes and each of them had schools the Russian language.
Metropolitan Ignaty of Argentine and South America suggested setting up centers of Russian culture in each Latin American country.
