The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church sent messages to French President François Hollande and to the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, expressing condolences over the death of people at the result of the crash of the EgyptAir plane en route from Paris to Cairo. The text of the messages is given below.

Your Excellency, dear Mr. President,

It was with pain in my heart that I learned about the Egyptian airlines plane crash over the Mediterranean Sea. Among those who died were citizens of your country. I extend my sincere condolences to you and to all people of France.

May the Merciful Lord grant fortitude and strength to the relatives and friends of those killed in the catastrophe in enduring this terrible ordeal.

…we do have a small request. More and more people visit Orthodoxy and the World website. However, resources for editorial are scarce. In comparison to some mass media, we do not make paid subscription. It is our deepest belief that preaching Christ for money is wrong.
