The Day of the Holy Trinity, the Feast of Pentecost, was solemnly celebrated at the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra on June 20, 2021. His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine presided over the Divine Liturgy held at the square in front of the Dormition Cathedral, reports the Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
After reading the Gospel, the metropolitan addressed those present with a sermon. His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry spoke about the Descent of the Holy Spirit and the knowledge of the mystery of the Holy Trinity.
“The Holy Trinity created the visible and invisible world: the Father wished, the Son created, and the Holy Spirit gave life to everything. To understand the mystery of the Trinity Deity, one must turn to face God and be simply attentive to oneself and to the world around us. Every creature in the world bears the seal of the Trinity Deity, including man. May the Lord help us so that always and everywhere our Father is our Hope, the Son of God is our Refuge, and the Holy Spirit is our Cover. Holy Trinity, glory to Thee!” said His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry.
During the service, fervent prayers were offered for an end to the coronavirus pandemic, and for the health of doctors and patients.
