“Progress in the peaceful settlement of the Middle Eastern problem is very important to us, specifically, progress in the relations between Israel and Palestine. Maybe we should think about broader involvement in this dialogue of religious leaders, too,” the patriarch said in Moscow on Thursday during a meeting with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin.
He said the religious factor is not directly connected to terrorism, “but the presence of different religions cannot be ignored.”
“Maybe it would make sense to create some platform for interreligious dialogue relating to Middle Eastern settlement and the achievement of peace in the Holy Land,” the patriarch said.
