Registration is now open for the Academic Symposium honoring the life and work of Metropolitan Leonty, slated to be held at Saint Tikhon’s Seminary here May 14, 2015.

The day-long program, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of Metropolitan Leonty’s repose, will feature yet-to-be-published selections from Metropolitan Leonty’s 1917-1918 diary, as read and translated by his granddaughter Matushka Tamara Turkevich-Skvir, together with poems and anecdotes written throughout the life of this champion of the Faith.

Other presentations will be offered by Harold M. Leich, Russian Area Specialist European Division, The Library of Congress, and Dr. Scott M. Kenworthy, who will speak on “The Relationship between Metropolitan Leonty and Saint Tikhon of Moscow.”

In addition to these formal academic offerings, time will be set aside for stories and recollections by friends, family, and others who had the opportunity to experience first-hand the grace and wisdom of Metropolitan Leonty.

The day will begin with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy in Saint Tikhon of Zadonsk Monastery Church at 7:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial at the grave of Metropolitan Leonty.  Presentations will commence after a continential breakfast and continue until 4:30 p.m., when Vespers will be celebrated.  A wine and cheese reception will follow, after which a panel discussion will be held from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m.

Registration is $60.00 per person if received by April 2, 2015, after which the registration fee will be $75.00.  Registration may be made by calling Saint Tikhon’s Seminary at 570-561-1818—dial “0” for the receptionist—or on-line.

Since you are here…

…we do have a small request. More and more people visit Orthodoxy and the World website. However, resources for editorial are scarce. In comparison to some mass media, we do not make paid subscription. It is our deepest belief that preaching Christ for money is wrong.

Having said that, Pravmir provides daily articles from an autonomous news service, weekly wall newspaper for churches, lectorium, photos, videos, hosting and servers. Editors and translators work together towards one goal: to make our four websites possible - Pravmir.ru, Neinvalid.ru, Matrony.ru and Pravmir.com. Therefore our request for help is understandable.

For example, 5 euros a month is it a lot or little? A cup of coffee? It is not that much for a family budget, but it is a significant amount for Pravmir.

If everyone reading Pravmir could donate 5 euros a month, they would contribute greatly to our ability to spread the word of Christ, Orthodoxy, life's purpose, family and society.
