Patriarch Kirill affirmed election of Metropolitan Onufry as Ukrainian church leader

Moscow, August 13, Interfax - Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has affirmed the decision by the Bishops Council of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to elect Metropolitan Onufry as its leader, the Moscow Patriarchate said on Wednesday evening.

The patriarch congratulated Metropolitan Onufry on his election as the Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine. He also “gave Metropolitan Onufry his patriarchal blessing for assuming the office of the leader of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church,” the spokesperson said.
