Russian Church representative becomes advisor to State Duma speaker

Moscow, February 3, Interfax - State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin has appointed as his advisor the first deputy chairman of the Synodal Department for Church, Society and Media Relations, Alexander Shchipkov.

“I have been appointed as advisor to the State Duma speaker on a pro bono basis,” Shchipkov told Interfax-Religion on Friday.

Previously he served as advisor to Sergey Mironov during the latter’s time as Federation Council speaker.
