The main event was a religious procession to the Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra, in which eight thousand believers participated. The procession was led by Bishop Markell of the Pushkinsky District and many clergymen.
The religious procession began at the railway station of Sergievo early in the morning. The historical name of the station had been returned to it with effort of the faithful. Back in the old days this was the start point for pilgrims who were on their way to the Lavra.
Thousands of the faithful gathered at the central square of the monastery. A festive Service of Intercession took place there. Those who could not fit in the church in honor of St. Segius of Radonezh were watching the service on a big screen outside of the church.
